Types of Headaches
Understanding what type of headache you have is crucial for effective treatment. Here are the three most common types:
Tension Headaches
The most common type. Feels like a tight band around your head. Usually caused by stress, poor posture, or eye strain.
- •Treatment: Paracetamol or Ibuprofen
- •Prevention: Regular breaks from screens, good posture, stress management
- •Duration: 30 minutes to several hours

Panadol Rapid (Paracetamol 500mg)
Fast-acting pain relief. Gentle on the stomach. Suitable for headaches, fever, and general aches.
Migraines
Severe, throbbing pain usually on one side of the head. Often accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity, and visual disturbances (aura).
- •Treatment: Ibuprofen, aspirin, or prescription migraine medications
- •Prevention: Identify and avoid triggers (certain foods, stress, lack of sleep)
- •Duration: 4-72 hours if untreated

Nurofen (Ibuprofen 200mg)
Fast, effective pain relief with anti-inflammatory action. Ideal for period pain, back pain, and inflammation.
Sinus Headaches
Deep, constant pain in cheekbones, forehead, or bridge of nose. Worsens with sudden head movement. Usually accompanies sinus infection.
- •Treatment: Decongestants, pain relievers, steam inhalation
- •When to see a doctor: If accompanied by fever or lasts more than a week

Go to the emergency room if you experience:
- •Sudden, severe headache (worst of your life)
- •Headache with fever, stiff neck, confusion, or vision changes
- •Headache after a head injury
- •Headache that gets progressively worse over days
